The 2 day workshop for Umpires is being conducted by the Association on 6th & 7th September 2014 at the MCA Lounge in Wankhede Stadium. All 317 umpires enrolled with the Association shall attend the same. Mr. Ravi Savant, Vice President inaugurated the workshop in his address he spoke of the important role of the umpires in all matches, most importantly, local matches, he asked the umpires to utilise the opportunity to enhance their skills and implement the laws and the spirit of Cricket in right earnest. He further went on to make two important announcements.
1) Firstly, he announced the opening of the Match Officials Academy of the Mumbai Cricket Association, which shall impart training to Umpires, Scorers, Match Observers and Video Analyst. He informed that all study material of the same will be done by the Academy, which shall enable all Match Officials of Mumbai to be amongst the best in India.
2) The second was getting a sponsor this season for Umpires. The Umpires would be given 2 Trousers, 2 Shirts, 2 Hats, Shoes and Socks, 4 Bails, 9 Ball Counter, a ball guage and calculator which they shall use during the season.
Mr. Shrikant Tigdi, Mr. Ramesh Vajge and Mr. Armaan Mallick, Managing Committee attended the inauguration. 148 Umpires were present.
