Mr. Sharad Pawar has been elected as the President of Mumbai Cricket Association in the Biennial Election held on 17th June 2015.

Mr. Sharad Pawar was elected as the President of Mumbai Cricket Association for the first time in 2001 and served till the year 2011 & from 2013 till date.

Considering
his contribution to the growth and development of the Association and
thereby the game of cricket, the members with an absolute majority
amended the Constitution paving the way for
Mr. Sharad Pawar to continue as the President beyond 8 years.
Mr. Sharad Pawar was elected unopposed as the President for the 5th term on 10th July 2009.

He
has set targets for the development of cricket infrastructure in the
jurisdiction of Mumbai Cricket Association creating new facilities
particularly in the suburbs.

Under
his stewardship Mumbai Cricket Association has taken up the task of
redevelopment of the Wankhede Stadium ahead of the ICC CWC-2011.
•
Mr. Sharad Pawar was the President of BCCI from 1st December 2005 to 27th September 2008.
•
The Pension Scheme for Cricketers and Umpires was started by BCCI under his presidentship.
•
He was also the President of the Asian Cricket Council for a short term of 6 months and the Chairman of Afro Asia Cricket Committee.

He has been the Vice President of International Cricket Council (ICC) and has taken over as the President of ICC from 1st July 2010. A post, which he held for two years.
•
Mr. Sharad Pawar was the Chairman of the Central Organizing Committee to host ICC CWC-2011 in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Mr. Sharad Pawar has been involved with sports in his capacity as the President of Maharashtra Olympic Association and was also the President of Maharashtra Kabaddi Federation.
•
Mr. Sharad Pawar was the Union Minister of Agriculture in the Government of India from May 2004 to May 2014.
